Opening your doorstep to a surprise flower delivery can instantly brighten up anyone’s day. But did you know there are some mistakes you’re probably making that can ruin the experience? Are you guilty of any of these?
Not Taking Off the Plastic Wrap
Typically, hand bouquets, floral arrangements, and floral gift boxes come with a protective plastic covering when they’re delivered, which keeps them safe during transport and against inclement weather conditions. However, as soon as you receive and bring them indoors, it is highly recommended that you remove the plastic wrapping to let the flowers breathe and acclimate. Plus, they look prettier without them too!
Putting Under Direct Heat
If there’s anything fresh flowers and orchid arrangements don’t agree with, it’s being exposed to extreme temperatures, which can wilt and brown their petals in a snap. Flower delivery men will do their best never to leave your bouquets under the sun. When you bring them home, don’t make the grave mistake of carelessly putting your flower boxes anywhere near the following:
- Glass windows
- Fireplace
- Oven
- Stove
- Candles
- Inside the car for too long
Removing the Water Bag
Most of the time, florists will put the ends of the stems of bouquets in a water bag or floral foam, which lets them stay fresh and hydrated. However, if you received your flower arrangement and you’re not yet home and ready to put them in a vase filled with water, we encourage you to keep it on.
Forgetting to Thank the Sender
Your flower arrangements will always be delivered with a note card where you can see the message and sender information unless they were sent anonymously. Upon receiving your flower gifts, ensure you reach out to the sender to thank them for the kind gesture.
