Tarzana is yet another promising and prosperous neighborhood in Los Angeles County, California.
The former ranchland is surrounded by Topanga State Park on its south, Encino on its east, Reseda on its north, and Woodland Hills on its west side.
Interestingly, Tarzana sits on a ranch owned by critically acclaimed author Edgar Rice Burroughs, the creator of a famous classic novel about a boy who grew up in the jungle among wild animals and primates, Tarzan, which has obviously inspired the name of this L.A. County community.
Based in Studio City, Orchid Republic is within close access to Tarzana and other Los Angeles and Orange County neighborhoods.
History of Tarzana
Before it was Tarzana, the approximately 8.79 square miles of lush land, was occupied in 1797 by Spanish conquistadors and missionaries who set up the San Fernando Mission. Following the conclusion of the Mexican War, the land then was surrendered to the United States in 1848 as noted in the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo.
The iconic Los Angeles Suburban Homes Company bought the land in 1909. After gaining substantial amount of funding from his successful novel, Edgar Rice Burroughs and his family relocated to Tarzana in 1919, after finding the climate in the region favorable.
